Cooking a Turkey can be intimidating! Especially if you have never done it before. Here’s a quick tip… don’t text your mom and ask her how long you should microwave your turkey for! No you can’t microwave a turkey… and you should make sure you prepare it properly so no one in your family get’s sick!
So Butterball is nice enough to have the Butterball hotline where you can call with all of your questions. The number is really easy to remember 1-800-BUTTERBALL (1-800-288-8372). Their hours for Wednesday 7am to 10pm and Thanksgiving 6am to 7pm central standard time. There are turkey experts on call waiting to help you with all of your turkey needs!
According to the Butterball website, the hotline was started in 1981. That year, the operators answered around 11,000 questions about how to cook a turkey! Now Google is our best friend, but still. Over the years the hotline has evolved and grown into the powerhouse it is today! Now that the internet is more popular, the company has expanded the hotline to include live chats, and even your Amazon Alexa will connect you to the website.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are the two times a year that the hotline is used the most, but they are always willing to answer questions. They even have interactive calculators on their website to help you calculate how long your turkey should cook and how much will be enough for your family!
Now the funny stuff… some of the calls they have received.
MentalFloss did an article on some of the calls the operators have received. According they get some ridiculous calls. Apparently one caller’s dog was inside the turkey and they didn’t know how to get him out. The one I found to be funny, an operator stayed on the phone with someone while they were in the store buying everything for their Turkey Dinner. You need to read this whole article because you be laughing out loud! Click here to see what other callers had to say!
If someone calls this line, please let me know how this turns out!!!
