A half ham, half mushroom, saucy pizza from RonDavoo Pizza, 605 South 10th Street, Burlington, Iowa (near Hy-Vee on Angular Street)
A rendezvous is a popular meeting place, generally a restaurant, so you can see how brilliantly fitting it is that owner Ron named his restaurant RonDavoo Pizza. You’ll certainly want to meet here! The place has the goods.
RonDavoo does pizza, including taco pizza, dessert pizza, fried chicken, tacos, chicken and noodles, corn, mashed potatoes, jumbo wings, mozzarella sticks, fried cauliflower, garlic rolls, and salad bar with fruit, veggies, pudding, and more. You can dine-in or carry-out. You can order online. You can even come in and get the buffet so you can enjoy some of everything – and they do requests.
I know the secret to good pizza varies with each person. Some folks want great cheese, others a certain style of crust, and still others that simply just want their favorite topping. For me, the secret is in the sauce, and RonDavoo has an incredible, signature sauce. It has a very unique and delicious tomato/parmesan-with-well-blended-herbs-and-spices flavor. I like a lot of sauce, and RonDavoo will actually do that for you. You never have to eat a dry pizza again. That has been the case for both carry-out and when I’ve eaten inside for the buffet – very consistent.
Speaking of the buffet, it’s so good. The pizza, of course, is fantastic. Their main crust is a happy zone between a thin-crust and a traditional, hand-tossed style – so you can enjoy the flavor of the sauce, cheese, and toppings while still getting full. RonDavoo has many options, including stuffed pizza – if you have an idea in mind, this is the place that’s going to be able to do it for you, so just ask. They use 100% real Wisconsin cheese and exceptional topping ingredients.
The apple and cherry dessert pizzas are spectacular. They put care into making all this stuff. They use plenty of moist apple and cherry mix so you don’t end up with a dried out or burned dessert.
I very rarely eat fried foods, but I’ve tried the chicken breast without the skin (I know – the best part haha). Just like with RonDavoo’s pizza, their chicken has a very yummy, signature flavor – that, don’t worry, I can taste even without the skin. It is not plain ol’ fried chicken in any way, shape, or form.
The chicken and noodles, sides, and salad bar are a generous and tasty supplement to an already great meal.
