Jerry Maren, Lollipop Guild member from The Wizard of Oz, was 98
Jerry was the last surviving leading-role Munchkin. He was 18 when he appeared in the movie. In the Lollipop Guild scene, Jerry is the one that actually presents Dorothy with the lollipop.
Jerry was quite active even in his later years with appearing at events and meeting fans. From everything I’ve read about him over the years, Jerry was always so kind, and he was humbled and surprised at the level of love people had for The Wizard of Oz movie and its stars over the years.
Side note: When I was a kid, I thought they were singing “The Lollipop Kids” instead of “The Lollipop Guild”.
